Healthy forests are a fundamental basis of life – for countless animal and plant species, for the global climate, and especially for us humans. The forest foundation primarily supports forest-related environmental education and species conservation projects in the state-owned forests of Lower Saxony. In doing so, it promotes and communicates sustainable development, responsible interaction with nature and forests, and the importance of forests for society.

As part of one of my student project at the Environmental Campus of Birkenfeld (Trier University of Applied Sciences), and in cooperation with the foundation, I had the opportunity to strategically design and implement its first sustainability report. In this context, I conducted a stakeholder and impact analysis, identified key topics aligned with ESG criteria, and evaluated the foundation’s projects in relation to the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
